Truth That Transforms
A Study In Christian Doctrine
What do we mean by doctrine? The Concise Dictionary of Christian Theology, by Millard Erickson, defines doctrine as “a belief or teaching regarding theological themes . . .” As we proceed through this course we will be looking at who God is, what he has done, and what he teaches us through His Word, the Bible.
Why should anyone take a course on Christian Doctrine? Isn't reading the Bible enough? What benefit will there be for your life? Plenty, as you shall see in this whole course - Truth That Transforms.
Do all Christian agree on all Bible doctrines? Frankly, the history and division of the Christian Church shows that not all Christians interpret passages of Scripture the same. Well-meaning, knowledgeable, and godly men have debated the meaning of many Scriptural truths. Throughout these lessons, we shall call upon these various perspectives and compare them to the Biblical data, so that we may decide for ourselves the truth that is taught in Scripture.
As you undertake this study in God’s Word, may you be: “rooted and built up in him (Christ) and established in the faith.” (Col. 2:7).
